It is from this idea that the new PISA 1940 watchmaking workshop was born: over 170 square meters dedicated to the assistance, overhaul and restoration of watches, where the tradition of craftsmanship meets the needs of contemporary Haute Horlogerie.
A project that looks to the future without forgetting its origins and that finds its roots in the very history of the Pisa family.
"My grandfather Ugo considered watches living assets, with that ticking so similar to the beating of a human heart. Taking care of them was an important calling for him: maintaining, overhauling and repairing such a precious artifact meant strengthening the symbolic bond between client and watch, so that it could remain strong over time. We wanted to give value to his teaching through a project that recalled that chapter of our history where it all began."
Chiara Pisa, CEO PISA 1940
A new workshop, with a traditional soul
The new space arises from an apparent contrast: it is a contemporary watchmaking workshop, but it retains the soul of those places where industriousness, precision and silence were an integral part of the watchmaker's craft.
An environment designed to accommodate every phase of watch care, from routine maintenance to more complex interventions.
One room is dedicated to cleaning and sandblasting activities, while other areas are used for washing mechanisms, cases and bracelets. The repair room houses six equipped workstations, designed to allow technicians to perform both the quickest operations and those requiring the highest level of precision.
Completing the workshop are instruments dedicated to verifying watch performance: machines for water resistance tests, diagnostic devices and technical control systems that allow every timepiece to be analyzed with accuracy.
Because, in Haute Horlogerie, technology is an indispensable tool, but it is people's expertise that makes the difference.
Savoir-faire at the heart of watch assistance
As in the history of PISA 1940, in the new workshop it is the people who represent the true heart of the activity.
Eight watchmaking technicians offer experience, training and skills acquired through certified courses at some of the most prestigious Haute Horlogerie Maisons.
A wealth of knowledge that is renewed over time and allows every intervention to be approached with the same attention given to the choice of a timepiece.
It is here that craftsmanship and technical mastery meet: in the ability to understand the functioning of a movement, comprehend every component and intervene while preserving its identity and characteristics.
A culture of doing that belongs to the history of PISA 1940 since its origins, when the Pisa family took its first steps into the world of watchmaking precisely through a workshop.
An independent watchmaking workshop, part of a larger universe
The choice to dedicate an autonomous space to technical assistance represents a further step in the evolution of PISA 1940.
After years of supporting the Boutiques' activities, the workshops now acquire their own dimension: independent, specialized and recognizable, but deeply connected to the rest of the PISA 1940 universe.
A choice that reflects a precise vision of service: assistance is not a moment separate from the watch experience, but represents an essential part of it.
Indeed, the relationship with a timepiece does not end with its purchase. It continues over time, through maintenance, overhaul, restoration and all those attentions that allow a watch to accompany its owner for many years and, in some cases, to pass from one generation to the next.
Sharing the culture of Haute Horlogerie
If the traditional workshop was by its nature a reserved place, the new PISA 1940 space is born with a vocation for sharing.
A library of over 250 volumes collects historical books, brand books and technical manuals, creating a wealth of knowledge dedicated to those who wish to delve deeper into the world of watchmaking.
One room is dedicated to presentations, meetings and in-depth discussions: a space designed to recount the culture of Haute Horlogerie through its stories, its techniques and the protagonists who have contributed to its evolution.
But sharing also comes from direct relationship.
The client can enter the workshop, meet the watchmaking technicians and find answers to their questions, understanding more closely what happens behind a watch case and discovering the value of every single intervention.
It is a new idea of a workshop: no longer just a place of technique, but a space for encounter between expertise, culture and passion.
An independent, yet open space
It is precisely in the relationship between people that the project finds its most contemporary expression.
"This workshop represents a concrete step in our vision of service: a place where technical expertise and customer relationship coexist continuously, enhancing every phase of the assistance process. Our goal is for the workshop to become a living space, capable of fostering dialogue between our watchmakers, customers, collectors and enthusiasts, accompanying them during technical assistance and through experiences, content and sharing moments dedicated to the culture of contemporary Haute Horlogerie."
Matteo Giustarini, After Sales Service Manager PISA 1940
The new PISA 1940 workshop in Milan thus comes into being as an independent, yet not separate, space. A place where past and present converse through the watchmaker's gesture, the precision of technique and the relationship with those who choose to entrust their time to expert hands.
Because taking care of a watch means much more than maintaining its functionality.
It means preserving its history, safeguarding its value and accompanying it through time.
And perhaps it is precisely here that tradition finds its most contemporary form: in continuing to take care of what is meant to last.
