OYSTER PERPETUAL EXPLORER: AVVENTURARSI OLTRE I LIMITI DEL POSSIBILE

OYSTER PERPETUAL EXPLORER: VENTURE BEYOND THE LIMITS OF THE POSSIBLE

The Oyster Perpetual Explorer and Oyster Perpetual Explorer II have evolved thanks to Rolex's close connection with the world of exploration and have reached places where only a few pioneers dare to venture. Over the years, in fact, the brand has given its watches to crews of polar, mountaineering and speleological expeditions, putting them to the test in real conditions. Some of the world's bravest explorers, mountaineers and scientists have taken these watches to places that have tested their resistance in the most difficult conditions.
In the 1930s Rolex began supplying Oyster Perpetual watches to the crews of numerous expeditions. Their experiences contributed to the development of the so-called Professional watches: models that serve as real tools, such as the Explorer and the Explorer II. Rolex watches have taken part in some of humanity's greatest adventures. One of these was the 1953 Everest expedition led by Sir John Hunt, which saw Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa first reach the summit of the world's highest mountain.

DESIGNED FOR EXPLORATION

Launched in 1953, the Explorer stands out for the simple design and extreme readability of its black dial with the characteristic numerals 3, 6 and 9 and large hour markers. It is an instrument watch created to indicate the time precisely in any circumstance. Even in the dark, it remains perfectly readable thanks to the Chromalight display. Today the Explorer is available with a diameter of 36 mm, like that of the original 1953 model, and with a diameter of 40 mm.

The Explorer II, introduced in 1971 and faithful to the same spirit as the Explorer, further strengthens the close relationship that binds Rolex to the world of exploration. Thanks to its 24-hour display consisting of an additional orange hand and graduated bezel, the Explorer II allows you to unmistakably distinguish the hours of day from those of night – a practical option where it is difficult to do so, such as at the poles at certain times of the day. year or inside caves – or to read a second time zone.

ABLE TO RESIST THE MOST EXTREME CONDITIONS

The watches in the Explorer range have constantly evolved to better meet the needs of explorers. More and more solid. More and more reliable. The Explorer 36 is available in Oystersteel or in a yellow Rolesor version (combination of Oystersteel and yellow gold), while the Explorer 40 and Explorer II are made exclusively in Oystersteel. Developed specifically for Rolex, Oystersteel is a unique alloy with excellent anti-corrosion properties.
All three models are paired with the three-row Oyster bracelet, which stands out for its robustness. Equipped with an Oysterlock safety clasp with folding clasp, designed and patented by Rolex, which prevents any inadvertent opening, it also features the Easylink quick extension link, developed by the Brand, which allows you to easily adjust the length of the bracelet by approximately 5 mm.

The Explorer 36 and Explorer 40 are equipped with the caliber 3230 and the Explorer II with the caliber 3285, two self-winding mechanical movements entirely developed and produced by Rolex. These movements boast a power reserve of approximately 70 hours.

SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER CERTIFICATION

Like every Rolex watch, the Explorer and Explorer II boast Superlative Chronometer certification. This title certifies that each watch that leaves the brand's laboratories has successfully passed a series of tests conducted by Rolex in its laboratories according to its own criteria. Superlative Chronometer status is symbolized by the green seal that accompanies every Rolex watch along with a five-year international warranty.
