The Maison, always a master of design, has once again demonstrated its ability to reinvent the rich heritage of icons and stylistic codes with renewed creativity and virtuosity. The Art of Metamorphosis: The Creative Soul of Cartier

The art of metamorphosis has been confirmed at the heart of the Maison's watchmaking tradition. In a magical enchantment, Cartier has defied time and its manifestations, drawing on the vast savoir-faire of its artisans, capable of transforming metal and stones into precious objects of desire.

This constant desire for reinvention was evident in the choice to sublimate watchmaking designs, transforming the concepts of material and design to create a new form of fascination that arouses emotions and reveals the ancestral beauty of the world.

Cartier’s ability to innovate while remaining true to its DNA has clearly emerged in the new interpretations of its most iconic models.

Tank Louis Cartier: an amplified dimension

The Tank watch has continually evolved throughout its history, evolving its lines. The Tank Louis Cartier , successor to the Tank Normale from 1922, has been at the heart of this evolution. Just five years after the launch of the original, Louis Cartier had already reimagined its design, lengthening the case, sharpening the straps and chamfering the corners to define the iconic rectangular shape.

At Watches & Wonders 2025 , Cartier presented this revisited design in a large model version, equipped with a latest-generation self-winding mechanical Manufacture movement, the 1899 MC . This key element, integrated while respecting the design and proportions of the watch, allowed the Maison to amplify its dimensions, offering it in pink gold and yellow gold.

New Tank in Guichets: a new reading of the time

Irresistible to enthusiasts, the collection has unveiled a new interpretation of another icon: the Tank à Guichets . Originally launched in 1928 with the aim of putting technique at the service of design by displaying the time using numerals on a disc, this model has been reintroduced with renewed boldness. Magic, the guiding thread of Cartier’s creative process, has combined with audacity to sublimate the aesthetics of this timepiece. The new Tank à Guichets is equipped with an exclusively developed calibre, the manually wound 9755 MC movement with jumping hours and continuous minutes. Echoing the original 1928 design, it features an hour aperture at 12 o’clock and a minute aperture at 6 o’clock, with the winding crown positioned, as it did then, at 12 o’clock. The satin-brushed case contrasts strikingly with the horizontal brancards with polished finishes, while the front is crafted from brushed gold or platinum.

The Tressage Clock: A Horological Sculpture

Cartier has magically transformed shapes and materials to create the Tressage watch , a creation of surprising and fascinating beauty. Gold, diamonds and precious stones have undergone a true metamorphosis, conducted according to the alchemy of Cartier, dazzling, original, but faithful to the codes of the Maison. Creative and precious, the Tressage watch is inscribed in the tradition of the Maillon, Coussin and Reflection de Cartier models, fusing yellow gold and emblematic volumes in a true horological sculpture.

The Panthère Jewel Clock: A Hybrid Architecture

The union of excellence and virtuosity of the Maison's talents has created a unique alchemy that, in contact with the panther, has transformed materials into extraordinary creations. The Panthère Jewel Watch is a shining example: a true jewel watch that fuses watchmaking and jewellery, combining design elements deeply rooted in the stylistic history of the Maison. It features a three-dimensional panther ready to pounce and a “Toi & Moi” bracelet, featuring both the emblematic feline and a delicately designed watch. Crafted in yellow gold, the panther boasts an extremely realistic reproduction, with a moving body, defined musculature, detailed nose and ears, and moulded pads under its paws. Tsavorite eyes and an onyx nose create a play of light and contrasts with the black lacquered dial, the diamond-set bezel and the diamond index at 12 o'clock. This expressive timepiece is part of the Maison's long design tradition, with the panther, the subject of numerous creative explorations, once again revealing its extraordinary capacity for renewal and evolution.

The ultimate jewel watch, the Panthère has been the subject of multiple creative interpretations. Animal versions of the iconic panther inspired Cartier to create an abstract coat, half zebra and half tiger: a graphic composition with black and golden brown lacquer motifs, paved with diamonds and orange and yellow spessartites. The reinterpretation required expert know-how, as demonstrated by the hand-crafted lacquering fired at high temperature at Cartier’s Maison des Métiers d’Art, and the snow-set dial, adorned with 145 brilliant-cut diamonds.

Cartier’s presence at Watches & Wonders 2025 reaffirmed its position at the forefront of fine watchmaking, combining magic, craftsmanship and a continually evolving, fascinating vision of design.
