Watch Service Guide: 10 Key Steps

Time is a precious commodity and the watches that measure it deserve the same care. As the years go by, even the most sophisticated mechanisms require careful periodic maintenance to continue to function with precision and reliability. Servicing a watch is a delicate and complex process, reliable only in expert hands. Let's discover together the ten fundamental steps to restore your timepiece's original beauty and precision.

  1. Check and first analysis of the watch : every great transformation begins with a careful look. The watchmaker technician proceeds to an accurate analysis of the timepiece and an estimate of the interventions, evaluating every detail and designing a customized maintenance job. Only when the estimate is clear and shared, can the maintenance service begin, as well as the path to the rebirth of the watch.

  1. Preparation for the overhaul : with expert gestures, the technician separates the bracelet from the case and proceeds to extract the mechanism with the dial and hands, an operation that requires extreme precision. Now, the journey of the different components begins: the bracelet and the case are destined for the polishing room, while the movement is sent to the laboratory, where the complete disassembly will take place.

  1. Dismantling the movement : the mechanism is delicately dismantled by the watchmaker and each gear is carefully checked. At this stage, the technician assesses the conformity of each individual element to the criteria of the parent company, carefully replacing the worn parts.

  1. Cleaning of movement components : in this phase, the components are subjected to an ultrasonic cleaning bath, in order to eliminate every trace of impurity, even in the most hidden cavities. This deep cleaning allows the movement to regain its original purity.

  1. Movement assembly and lubrication : the components of the mechanism are ready to be reassembled and lubricated with special oils and greases. The watchmaker subjects the movement to an initial adjustment of the rate, respecting the high precision standards of each brand. The heart of the watch begins to beat again with new energy.

  1. Polishing of case and bracelet : the case and bracelet are separated and carefully prepared for the polishing phase. Using specific machinery and brushes, each material is treated with the utmost attention, returning the external parts of the watch to their original state. A new light highlights its timeless aesthetics.

  1. Case assembly: After polishing and/or satin finishing, the case and bracelet components are reassembled, and the gaskets are replaced. This phase ensures that every detail is prepared for a new life, with elegance and resistance.

  1. Case-fitting the movement : once the dial and hands have been reassembled, the technician subjects each individual element to a rigorous aesthetic check. Finally, the movement is inserted with precision into the case, restoring the timepiece's identity.

  1. Final micro-adjustment : In this phase, the technician performs the final adjustment maneuver, the last and most important one before closing the repair. It is a touch of perfection, designed to ensure the reliability of the watch over time.

  1. Waterproof test and final check : the watchmaker closes the case back on the case and subjects the watch to a thorough waterproof test , one of the most important features to ensure the durability and functionality of a watch. At this point, the watch is ready for a final check where the watchmaker verifies the correct functioning of the functions and the aesthetic precision.

The timepiece is ready for a new story, reborn with renewed elegance and reliability.
